Creating an affordable, emotionally responsive AI companion required innovative software-first development to validate concepts before hardware investment. The challenge was building a pet-like personality system with limited embedded hardware.

We implemented a software-first methodology, developing the complete AI personality in Python before hardware investment. The emotion engine, face recognition, and voice interaction were perfected on PC before porting to ESP32-S3.
